As promised here are the front brakes and struts. The AZ car kit was perfect, never mind that it was four times the price of the whole car. HA HA Attachment:

The rear brakes and struts were finished up today. Those rear bearings are a real challenge, At least I won't have to deal with them again for a long time. Attachment:

Also finished the grill. It had plenty of rust and was bent quite a bit. Attachment:

It has been a while since my last post. Have been very busy building the rotisserie, and stripping off undercoating. Once that is done I can do some cancer repair, build a fuel cell cage and upgrade the frame rails. The car spins quite easily and made it much easier to work on Attachment:

wow! that is a really good idea! I have been reading all the Z forums and have never seen that rotisserie idea before!
How did you go about securing it to the car like that? What was the process?
Also, where we you able to find your Z? Tucson?
Thanks - Matt

Here is the front bracket. Thanks for your comments about the work, if you're going to do this type of project you've got to do it right. I guess its a sense of responsibility when working on a historical vehicle. I don't want the next guy dealing with the problems that I was given. The engine stands are two, thousand pound engine stands modified with 1" and 2" steel. The shell only weighs 350-400lbs, so its a little bit over built but it feels very secure. I bought the Z in chandler last June, complete basket case, the guy who had it was taking it to Saudi Arabia, but a change in their import law now forbids vehicles of this age. So he had to sell it. If you're interested in a long term project there are cars on craigs list all the time for pretty cheap. Attachment:

I have been working on the fuel tank cage. I think it turned out well. I know its not a real fuel cell but for now it will work. What do you guys think? Attachment:

Very cool. Are you going to leave the fill at the top there or try to connect it somewhere outside the car?

I think for now I will leave it there, I was considering shaving the fuel filler door. I have seen one Z with a filler neck from the fender to a cell with an insulated tube. Looked ok, but I was thinking one of the main reasons for the cell was to get most of the possible fume leaks eliminated. I dont think it will be a big deal to lift the hatch at the gas station to refuel, at this point. If anybody has seen that set-up work let me know. Thx
